Where should you go?

There are plenty of different locations you can go to with the family, depending on what you are wanting to do and see. Planning a holiday, can be a stressful thing. But with our various locations offering different aspects of a holiday, we can take that stress away.
Our cottages are ideally situated nearby both the idyllic Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks, near the villages of Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh and Kendal, but we also offer properties further afield in the highlands of Scotland and the South of France. These unique locations host plenty of unique experiences and without a doubt, scenery that is utterly stunning.

When should you go?

You should consider what time of the year you are going on your family trip. If you have children, then you may want to plan around the school term times. There is an increase in families wanting more from their holiday than just to ‘get away’ and with time off work being extremely precious, it needs to be spent well with the family.

Consider what season is best for your trip. The countryside can be a beautiful place to visit in any season, but if someone tells you it won’t be cold, and a chance of rain, well they’re lying. In autumn, the leaves have fallen and the golden brown colours are poured everywhere. What more fun can you have than to get the wellies on and walk by a river with the dog… and don’t be afraid to kick up them leaves with the kids.

If you’re seeking sun and sand, then you won’t find this in the Yorkshire Dales. Although you will find authentic, inspiring locations, you may find a different location a better fit. Considering this, the English countryside is one of the most jaw dropping scenes in the summer. There are even plenty of rivers, lakes and beaches, and the sun might even come out for you.

This perfect location offers a beach nearby, opportunities to adventure out on a yacht or take the ferry to the glamorous St Tropez. If the excitement is too much, then you have no excuse to simply chill by the pool and let the kids run around the villa.

If its peace, you and your family are seeking, and you don’t want to travel too far, then a quant cottage in the Lake District could be the perfect choice for you. Our Helm Mount Lodge offers relaxation at its peak, with a log burner, pool table and plenty of areas for your family to chill out and socialise. Surrounded by the charming countryside, this is the perfect setting for a family reunion or group get-together, as it sleeps up to 14 people.
